The spring festival Fruhlingsfest was first held in Berlin in 1970. Since then, the Germans have celebrated this event every year at the end of March.
The main events of the festival take place in Berlin on the Kurt-Schumacher-Damm square over the weekend. They include: performances by music and dance groups and ensembles, a street food festival, various rides and carousels for children, roller coasters, a flea market. The beginning and closing of Fruhlingsfest are celebrated with colorful fireworks.
Entry to the festival grounds is free. The main events begin during the day and last until late in the evening.
