The Five Petal Rose Festival is a major medieval festival that takes place annually on the penultimate weekend of June in the city of Cesky Krumlov.

The city of Cesky Krumlov is famous for the fact that there is a medieval estate of Rožmberkov, which includes a beautiful castle, a summer palace, a park, a theater and a bunch of other ancient medieval buildings.

The festival of the five-petalled rose has been held in the city and estate for a very long time, dating back to the Middle Ages. The five-petalled rose is the coat of arms of the Rozmberks, and the festival itself is dedicated to the reign of the last representatives of this noble family.

The celebration begins on Friday at Svornost Square in the historical center of Cesky Krumlov. After the grand opening, the medieval carnival begins. Local residents dressed in ancient clothes, along with knightly flags, drums and torches, begin a carnival procession through the city.

People are dressed in various ancient clothes. There are knights and beautiful ladies in luxurious outfits, monks and nuns, sellers and commoners. Everyone is walking, chatting, shopping. The whole city seems to be plunged into the Middle Ages for several days.

The city also hosts a medieval fair. It hosts knightly tournaments, demonstration shooting with ancient weapons, and historical reconstructions. Various handicrafts, medieval armor, ceramics, and souvenirs are sold.
