Musical May Festival (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) is an annual opera music festival that takes place in Florence from the end April to the end of May. In 2017, the festival will take place from April 24 to May 26.
The Florence Festival of Opera Music was first held in 1933 and was a small event organized to promote opera music, held at the Teatro Comunale.
In 1937, the festival reached a new level. It became an annual event, and its program included not only musical concerts, but also performances, performances by symphony orchestras, exhibitions, meetings and symposiums, etc.
Now the Musical May Festival is one of the most significant events in the world of opera music. Many famous artists and performers from different countries come to participate in it.
