The Genzano Infiorata Festival (Genzano di Roma) takes place annually on Corpus Christi in the small Italian town of Genzano di Roma in the suburbs of Rome.

It was first held in 1778, when people began decorating the main street of the town with flower arrangements in honor of the celebration of Corpus Christi.

Today, the Genzano Infiorata festival is a major tourist event that attracts many tourists to this small town.

As part of the celebration, the central street of the city, Via Belardi, is covered with colorful flower arrangements on religious themes. The total area of the flower carpet is more than 1890 square meters! Floral arrangements are combined into 13 paintings, each of which measures 7 by 114 meters. It takes about 500 tons of flowers to create the canvas.

The festival lasts three days and ends with a solemn procession dressed in traditional costumes going to the church of Santa Maria della Cima.

The date of the festival is tied to the celebration of the Catholic holiday of the Body and Blood of Christ and therefore it is different every year. This holiday is celebrated on the Thursday after the Holy Trinity (this is the ninth Thursday after Easter).
