Finding your way around Budapest is not difficult. As you can see on the map of Budapest, the city is divided by the Danube River into two parts: hilly Buda and flat Pest. In Buda, the main attractions are located on Buda Hill (Royal Palace, Fisherman’s Bastion, Mathias Church). In Pest – on the territory strictly opposite Buda Hill (here is located Hungarian Parliament, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Opera). And Andrássy Avenue connects this part of the city with the large Városliget Park, located slightly to the side, where Szechenyi Baths, Vajdahunyad Castle, Heroes’ Square and Budapest Zoo. All this can, in principle, be freely explored on foot, but if you wish, you can also use public transport. The city has a well-developed metro network, and there are also scheduled buses and trams. A map of public transport and the Budapest metro can be downloaded on our website.

For ease of movement around the city, you can purchase a tourist card Budapest Card. It includes free travel around the city on public transport and free entry to one of the Budapest museums and the Lukács thermal baths, as well as discounts to other museums.

The Hungarian street names cause some difficulties when walking around the city. They are very difficult to pronounce and even more difficult to remember. Therefore, it is better to think about your route in advance. Here you can see our Hungarian language phrasebook.
