The weather in Budapest is characterised by the city’s temperate continental climate. The winter is quite mild, during our two trips to Budapest for the new year there was no snow in the city. The coldest months in Budapest are December and January. The average daily temperature during this time here will be around zero (that is, a slight plus during the day, and a slight minus at night). Summer in Budapest is quite long and hot, with warm weather from May to September inclusive. The average daily temperature in July and August is around +22 degrees Celsius. Extremely high and extremely low temperatures in Budapest are rare. This is due to the fact that Hungary is covered by mountains from cold winds from the north and east.
