Spisska Sobota is located one and a half kilometers northeast of the center of Poprad. Once upon a time it was a separate city with a rich history. Now it is a tourist attractive area of Poprad. In addition to ancient buildings, there are many hotels and cafes. The place is very quiet and peaceful. Despite the fact that it is quite beautiful here, we have never noticed crowds of tourists here.

But already in the 19th century Spisska Sobota fell into decay. The newly built railway passed through neighboring Poprad, which began to actively develop, and everyone forgot about Spisská Sobota as an economic center. It got to the point that in the mid-20th century Spisská Sobota lost its city status and became part of Poprad.

Today Spisská Sobota is the most beautiful area of Poprad. Here are well-preserved town houses built in the 16th-17th centuries (made of wood and stone), the Church of St. Juraj built in the 13th century, the bell tower of the 16th century, the city hall building, and an ancient column with a statue of the Virgin Mary. All these objects are located in the central square of the city – Market Square. There is also a small park here.

Spisská Sobota can be reached in 20 minutes from the center of Poprad. You will need to go through the pedestrian center of Poprad to the northeast towards the Aquacity water park. When the pedestrian zone ends, continue walking further. After passing through the underground passage under the railway tracks, turn a little to the left and you will come out onto a wide road (No. 66). You will need to cross to the other side and go deeper into the area behind the Winter Stadium building (along Kezmarska Street). In 5 minutes you will come to the Poprad river, on the other side of which Spisska Sobota is located.
