Damlatash Cave in Alanya is probably not the most beautiful of the local caves, but it is the most easily accessible. It is located right on Cleopatra Beach 100 meters from the sea, at the foot of the mountain, on top of which there is Alanya fortress.
You can get to the cave on foot from Cleopatra Beach. You can also come here on foot from the center of Alanya, although it will take about 30 minutes. In addition, bus No. 4 runs towards the cave from the city pier. Well, a tip for the laziest – you can simply buy a sightseeing tour of Alanya; a visit to the Damlatash cave, as a rule, is almost always included in the program of this excursion.
An adult entrance ticket to Damlatas Cave in 2018 cost 6 liras (about 2 US dollars). The cave is open daily from 10.00 am to 18.00 pm. At the entrance to the cave there is a restaurant of the same name and a small market with kiosks and retail outlets where you can buy ice cream and souvenirs. There is also a beautiful sandy beach nearby.
And now some information about the cave itself. The cave was discovered by accident in 1948 during construction work. Damlatas is translated from Turkish as “dripping stones” or “stalactites” (damla is a drop, and taş is a stone). After paying money and going through the turnstiles, you will find yourself in a long passage about 50 meters long, after passing which you will find yourself in the main hall of the cave, which has two floors. The air temperature here is always around +22, +23 degrees, but the air is very humid, more than 90% humidity and saturated with carbon.
Stalactites and stalagmites are mainly located in one large hall of the cave, measuring 15 meters in width and the same in height. The age of these formations is more than 15 thousand years! After looking at the cave from below, you can climb the steps to the second floor. Lamps and lamps are placed everywhere, highlighting the beauty of the cave.
In general, Masha Pasha liked the Damlatash cave. It is small, the excursion here will take a maximum of half an hour. You can take good photos here (but keep in mind that there is little light here, you need a good camera). There weren’t very many people when Masha Pasha visited the cave, although if a tour bus arrives, a crowd will probably form inside, since there isn’t very much space here.
