The Sand Sculpture Festival in Burgas (Pyaschnite Sculpture Festival) is an annual event that attracts a huge number of tourists . The festival begins in the first week of July and ends in the last days of September.

The festival is the most visited event in the cultural life of the city. It is held annually in the Lake Park (“Jezero Park”, equestrian base area), which is part of the larger Seaside Park of Burgas. About 5,500 tons of sand are used to create sand sculptures.

The festival exposition has a theme that changes every year. For example, in 2016 the theme of the festival was “film heroes”. In 2015 – safari. Sculptors from different countries take part in the festival: Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Portugal, Czech Republic, France, Slovakia, Germany, Turkey, other countries… The festival was first held in 2008.

Entrance to the festival is paid. The price of an adult entrance ticket in 2016 was 3.5 leva. Official website of the festival: sandfestburgas.com
