César Film Award @ Париж

The César Film Awards is a world-famous film festival that takes place annually in Paris in February – March (as usually the last Friday of February).

The founder of the film award is the French Academy of Cinema. Along with Berlinale and the Cannes Film Festival, the Cesar Film Award is one of the most prestigious European awards, analogous to the American Oscar.

The Cesar Film Awards were first held in Paris in 1976. It was then chaired by the famous actor Jean Gabin.

Today, the César Film Award is presented at the Châtelet Theater in Paris following a secret vote by members of the French Film Academy. Awards and main prizes are awarded in 21 categories: for the best film of the year, best director, actor, actress, supporting role, debut, screenplay, etc. Awards are given to both French and foreign films. In the competition for the award, five candidates compete in each category, from which one winner is selected.

The most awarded film for the entire existence of the award is the film “Camille Claudel” with J. Depardieu in the title role, which in 1988 received 7 prizes. The most awarded actor (actress) is Isabelle Adjani, who received the prize for best actress five times.
