Hlavna is not just a street, it is a whole complex of streets and squares, in the center of which there are important sights KosiceThe street Hlavna is located in the very center of the historical part of Kosice. In accordance with the urban planning traditions of the Slovaks, there should have been a large free space in the city center, which was used by the townspeople as the central square of the city. The main cathedral and other important city institutions were also supposed to be located here. There is a similar center not only in Kosice, but, for example, in another Slovak city of Poprad.

Today Hlavna is a large pedestrian area in the center of Kosice, closed to private vehicles. Previously, trams ran along it, but in 2014-2015 the administration of Kosice began dismantling them. Today trams no longer run here.

You can walk from start to finish of this pedestrian zone in about 15-20 minutes. In the center of Main Street there is: Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, Kosice State Theater, as well as parks and squares and other attractions. The length of this entire pedestrian zone is about 1 km.

Glavna is the most favorite place for local residents to relax. There are many churches, small shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes. In winter, the Christmas tree is decorated here and a Christmas market is held. Within walking distance from the Main Street there is the Tesco trading house, as well as the Aupark shopping center. The Hilton DoubleTree Hotel is also located here.

From Košice train station the main train station can be reached on foot in 10 minutes. You will just have to walk straight along Mlinskaya Street.
