In ancient times, Jaffa was a separate city, one of the oldest on the planet. Today it has become part of modern Tel Aviv.

Tel Aviv, a rapidly growing young, dynamically developing city, absorbed old Jaffa about half a century ago. Today, only a small area remains of this ancient port city, located on a rocky promontory at the end of the Tel Aviv waterfront. However, it is very nice. The surviving ancient streets and buildings of Jaffa have been carefully restored. Today, this part of the city is one of the most architecturally attractive districts of Tel Aviv.

Central Jaffa Square

From the skyscrapers of Azrieli to Jaffa, you can walk for about 60 minutes. The best thing is to go down to the picturesque embankment and walk along it all the way to the left – at the very end of the embankment you will be right in Jaffa. A walk here from the central bus station will take about 25-30 minutes. Also, to get to Jaffa, you can use a taxi or the public transport of the city.

In Jaffa itself, among the attractions, you must see the central square with St. Peter’s Church, visit the narrow alleys of the signs of the zodiac with their galleries and antique benches, see the area of archaeological excavations with the museum of the history of this city, as well as the old port. In the center of Jaffa at the site of the excavation is a wonderful park.

Since Jaffa is located on a small hill, there are wonderful views of the Tel Aviv embankment. However, keep in mind that there is a slight uphill climb to get to the central square of Jaffa.

In the sea, near Jaffa, you can see many rocks – according to legend, these rocks are the rocks of Andromeda. It was here that the ancient hero Perseus saved the beautiful Andromeda from the monster.

In general, a visit to Jaffa can take two to three hours. It is beautiful, quiet, cozy and green. This is a kind of oasis against the background of noisy Tel Aviv. Entrance to Jaffa is free.
