Florence City Day is also the feast of St. John the Baptist, who is considered the patron saint of the city. It is celebrated annually on June 24th.

On the day of John the Baptist (Festa di San Giovanni), an ancient costume procession (carnival) passes through the streets of old Florence, which moves towards < a href="https://mashapasha.com/europe/firenze/baptisteriy/">Baptistery of St. John, where the solemn service takes place. Here you will see nobles and princesses, warriors, and commoners dressed in historical costumes of the region. Participants in the procession are accompanied by standard bearers, drummers, and musicians.

Also on this day, the final of the famous Florentine football tournament and other entertainment events take place on Piazza Santa Croce.
