The International Folklore Festival Burgas is held annually on the 20th of August in the Bulgarian city Burgas. In 2017, the festival will take place on August 21-25.
The organizer of the festival “International Folkloren Festival Burgas” is the city community. Venue – Summer Theater (Leten Theater) in Seaside Park of Burgas. Performances also take place on other open stages in the city. In addition to performances by folk groups, the festival includes a festive fashion show and awards presentation. There is also a traditional fair as part of the festival.
The festival was first held in 1965. In 2017 this will be the 45th festival.
The main award of the festival is the “Nestinarka” figurine (works by the Bulgarian sculptor Nencho Rusev). It is awarded annually for folk song and dance creativity.
