Republic Day in Italy

Republic Day in Italy is an important public holiday. It is celebrated on June 2 throughout the country. It was on this day in 1946 that the monarchy was abolished in Italy and a republican form of government was proclaimed.

June 2 became an official holiday in Italy in 2000, when the corresponding decree was signed.

As a rule, on Republic Day in Rome and other large cities in Italy there are military parades, speeches by politicians and other public people, and fireworks displays.

In Rome on this day, along the Avenue of the Imperial Forums (from Coliseum to the Capitol) festive columns of Italian military personnel pass in the sky Planes are flying, national flags are visible everywhere.
