New Year in Europeis celebrated on the night of December 31 to January 1 and marks the arrival of the next calendar year.

Compared to Christmas, this holiday is celebrated less pompously in European countries. In many states, January 1 is not even a day off. In other countries, New Year marks the end of the Christmas holidays.

As a rule, the main attributes of Christmas (holiday tree, fairs) in European countries remain until the New Year, and after it they begin to be phased out. Therefore, if you want to catch a festive Europe, it is better to come here before the New Year, and not after. Otherwise, instead of a fair, you may find a pile of various disassembled structures and garbage.

On New Year’s Day, in large cities and capitals of Europe, as a rule, stages are built on which various concerts are held, and fireworks are launched at midnight. Vienna celebrates the New Year especially solemnly. On this night, the central streets and squares of the city are crowded with people and represent a continuous fair. New Year in Budapest, Rome, Istanbul is not so pompous. But the festive fireworks are also present here.
