Poland Independence Day

Polish Independence Day (Narodowe Swieto Niepodleglosci) is an official public holiday in Poland, celebrated annually on November 11. On this day in 1918, after the end of the First World War, the loss of Germany and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires, independent Poland again appeared on the map of Europe. The newly formed state was headed by Marshal J. Pilsudski, who formed the first democratic government in Warsaw.

Today, on this day off for the whole country, the President of Poland makes an official address, a ceremonial parade takes place in the capital Warsaw, famous politicians and public figures of the state speak. In many large cities of the country (Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk…) festive concerts are held, which are completed by beautiful fireworks.
