The Titanic Film Festival Budapest (Titanic Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál) is the largest such event in Hungary. It has been held annually since 1994. In 2017 it will be held from April 6 to April 13.

Initially, the Budapest Film Festival screened premieres from other leading world film festivals. However, since 2005, the Titanic festival has had its own competition program. The main prize (Hullámtörők díjat) is awarded better

film only by unanimous decision of the jury. In 2016, the main prize was awarded to the film Les Démons by Canadian director Philippe Lesage.

Every year, about 50 films from 30 different countries come to the festival. Priority in selection is given to the most extraordinary and challenging films. Premieres take place in leading cinemas in Budapest, including the National Cinema Urania and the Pushkin Art Cinema.

Films are shown in the original language with English subtitles. There is an entrance fee. You can buy a single ticket or a subscription to all shows.
